Thomas Rodriguez

Software Developer &
Systems Engineer

I build software that controls and supports real systems—from business applications and APIs to infrastructure automation, networking, and self-hosted services.

Built beyond the demo.

Three systems that show how I design, deploy, and operate software around real workflows and infrastructure.

01 · Production business application

East Bay AV
Business OS

A FastAPI and PostgreSQL application that replaces fragmented customer, job, labor, material, lead, and invoicing workflows with one connected operating system.

  • Application: CRM, public lead intake, jobs, labor, materials, and invoice history
  • Controls: sessions, CSRF protection, login throttling, and administration
  • Operations: migrations, testing, and self-hosted production deployment

02 · Infrastructure control plane

Homelab
Control Plane

An API-first management system I built to operate actual Proxmox infrastructure, services, and game servers—not a dashboard backed by sample data.

  • Control: VM, LXC, service, Minecraft, backup, and RCON operations
  • Visibility: task state plus Prometheus and Grafana monitoring
  • Access: role-based controls around infrastructure actions

03 · Family services platform

FAMBAM.PARTY

A public front door for private family services, combining live game-server status, clear setup workflows, service integrations, and the self-hosted infrastructure behind them.

  • Experience: live status, player data, downloads, and connection guidance
  • Integration: FastAPI status service and Minecraft server data
  • Delivery: Nginx, Cloudflare Tunnel, and self-hosted services

Software grounded in systems work.

My background is rooted in the systems software supports—networks, endpoints, servers, physical infrastructure, and the people who rely on them.

Through-lineBuild the fix

From configuration to software

Years of troubleshooting systems led naturally to building applications that make those systems easier to operate, understand, and automate.

The stack behind the work.

Backend

Python, FastAPI, REST APIs

Data

PostgreSQL, SQLAlchemy, Alembic

Infrastructure

Linux, Docker, Nginx, Proxmox, Cloudflare, Tailscale

Networking & systems

VLANs, wireless networking, Active Directory / Entra ID, PowerShell

Observability & quality

Prometheus, Grafana, service monitoring, automated testing

Tools

Git, HTML, CSS

I came to software through the systems it runs on.

I spent years working with networks, computers, AV and low-voltage systems, servers, and field infrastructure. That experience taught me to trace failures across boundaries and to design around real operating conditions.

Increasingly, instead of only configuring systems, I began building software to manage and automate them. That is still how I work: understand the environment, model the problem, build the software, and own how it runs.

Let’s build reliable systems.

I’m interested in software development, backend, infrastructure automation, systems engineering, and DevOps roles.
